I wouldn't suggest twin turbocharged engine. Guess I'll see what you come up with to handle the issues that are going to pop up. Pop up they will. That engine was not meant for turbos. You'll find out though. My nephew did this with his 2015 and destroyed the engine in 156 days. On his birthday. He added a better oil cooling system, larger oil pan, heat shielded it, increased cooling, but the internals can't take that.

dont add EXTRA plates on the sides because you still need to add the body supports from the frame out to the outside rockers that's going to be a lot more support

most of your cross reinforcement is from your belly pan so you dont really need to add much and you DO want some deflection from the frame twisting to help other things from breaking

Good videos... As I watch you build the frame rails, I don't see you checking to make sure the frame fits accurately to the sides of the car, and how do you know that the rails are right for installing the body to the frame, not to mention did you measure to ensure the rails were spaced far enough apart so your seats would fit right.

Love your Channel and the work you do. Just an advice from a professional when you’re welding the rails on the table. Don’t weld bottom to top. It’s a no no. You always wanna weld with gravity top to bottom.

Some morons never learn from their own mistakes. He screwed up that last frame rails running them like this and then changed it to a perimeter frame like it has to be to work then he goes and builds straight frame rails again. What a MORON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can not put a 4" tube under where the seat has to go and have any clearance. It has to be a perimeter frame. plus that is the best way to mount a roll cage. You guys that think this guy is good need to go watch "B is for build" that guy doesn't screw everything up and have to redo it 10 times to get it right. This kid is clueless. But i love watching him screw everything up lol I also want to know where he plans to get a custom windshield made that's 3 inches wider as only glass windshields are legal so no lexan are allowed.

Starting to look real good! I think the frame should go outboard in the cabin area for seat clearance. Once you get the frame welded you can go ahead and drill strategic lightening holes in the frame. It will reduce weight and allow access inside the frame for nuts, bolts, wiring, etc...

Not trying to be a buzz kill but I did framework for 35 years and in one week I could make the shop I worked for about $10,000 to $20,000 a week while the guys restoring cars would only bring in about $2,000 to $4,000 a week. How many $5,000 to $10,000 wrecks do you think you could build in the time it will take you to build the Mustang ? Also how much do you think the Mustang will sell for after it's finished, and how much is the Mustang going to cost you when it's finished ? Key information when welding vertical down hill looks pretty but has no strength . You always want to weld up hill to get the best penatration and the most strength on vertical welds

I think you will wind up regretting not building a perimeter frame, the straight frame rails are going to mean that instead of the floor pan being able to attach to the bottom of the perimeter frame moving the seats way down, you will have to sit the floor on top of the frame. To get an idea, cut a sheet of plywood and set it across the frame rails, set a seat in the car, see how it feels to you, I think you will find that your head is closer to the roof than you like, especially considering eventually you will need room above your head for sound insulation, a head liner, and if you want to do track day events a helmet. That brings another important point that you are planning on caging this car, which means you will also have to worry about the bars of the cage clearing your noggin. This is another reason to get your seating position as low as possible, this gives you options. Additionally going to a perimeter frame means that the cage hoops can come directly down to the frame, you will save yourself a lot of bother in the long run. I know they can see a bit intimidating at first, but compound miters are not that hard, all you are doing is adding 2 angles together. Then jigging them up and cutting them. You can even make the first cut on your saw and the 2nd angle with a hand held angle grinder with a cutoff wheel and straight edge. The other reason for building a perimeter frame is that if you build a straight frame, you still have to tie the frame into the body, this requires more structure, and more structure = more weight. It is a little more work now that will save you a whole lot more in the end. BTW, you can take the pieces you just cut, and bevel them to make the compound angles.

All in "Right to Work States" where Unions and Government Bureaucrats can't doom a small company or large Corporation. Let's say you want a POS Korean engineered (by GM Korea/formerly called Daewoo): Buick Encore,Chevy Spark,Chevy Trax,etc...assembled in the USA.....price of the vehicles would be too expensive. For every 1 employee GM has on the assembly-line/and in Corporate in North has to pay benefits and retirement Perks for 10 other former GM Leeches.

oh yeah one more thing if you don't want corrosion with your crash bar always use stainless steel hardware when joining steel to stainless and a plastic gasket!

I have a few suggestions your using the small gas tip or shield try getting a larger one ! and I don't know what hardness of steel your using but you could still make some holes on the inside of your frame to lighten it up and allow you to hide wiring and plumbing! I liked that you are fish plating your joints a standard diamond is preferred by DOT and a triangulation in the center with a hoop for the driveshaft will give you the strength your looking for!

Those linear rails are perfect just need to prevent flex use the same stock material from rails for angle gussets a roll cage is gonna help a lot start on that so you can find your body mount position keep up the Great work man looking forward to next update! 👍👍🇺🇸

You could put a frame cross member in the middle and one by the front. That may help to stop chassis twist and make it loads stronger.

you can put a tube x but i think it will be solid how it is when they box frames it makes them tough as nails so the only issue might be welds

One thing you could do, is drill a few small holes and fill the frame with expanding foam to help quiet the ride. That's similar to what Mercedes does, but they have a compound that has butyl added, which I'm not sure how they did that, because that stuff is more messy than glitter and just as thick as tar.

V- I thought when you were first explaining the new frame rail path, that you intended to widen at the firewall as you dropped to meet your rails through the passenger compartment. that sounded pretty doable, but I'm 750 miles away in Dallas,Tex, so..... It will be interesting to see how you work around the 2" or so you have pushed the floor up. IRRC, but I'm thinking the early Mustang was taller than the new Mustang but wasn't very tall. As always, you are "learning the skill while applying it up a storm"- your welding is pretty damn good already and getting better quickly. It will be interesting if your brother(s) or cousin(s) pick it up too; they are handy like the pockets on a shirt! Your presentation wasn't bad to start- it has gotten better as well. Oh, the Mustang, oh, if you insist; I would have thought the rail routing just inside of the rockers would have been the ticket, but I'm not there and there are plans I may well not know. Cutting the 4x2 a couple inches behind the rear mounts for the IRS subframe and use a 2x2 to frame out to the trunk end. Save weght and create a bit more room for the trunk and likely for the gas tank. The only short I see is that many of the frame pieces should have had at least some bevel ground on to the ends to give the weld someplace to sit besides on the surface, where you will grind most of it off. My popcorn is cooling so I must get back to my important schedule; will eating a six pack of Orville Redenhacker's Double Butter Theater popcorn a day make you gain weight?

So I know you might not want to hear this and I don't know if you've already planned on this, and is a bit more work but I think you should build a custom tube rear subframe. Mainly because I think you might have body height issues just mounting the pumpkin/subframe to the beams you put in. But if you built a custom rear subframe with tube steal you would eliminate ride height being to high. Just my 2cents I love watching whatever you do. 👍
